Sharp Steelers down Tarsha Sharks

The Tarsha Gale Sharks have slipped to their second defeat in as many starts after suffering a 22-4 loss to the Illawarra Steelers.

In a round two match played in Wollongong, the Steelers showed some of the class which took them to within one game of the 2021 Grand Final in crossing for five tries to one in the 18-point win.

The Illawarra girls scored three tries early, racing out to a 14-0 lead after just 13 minutes and while the Sharks would regroup and prove competitive for the remainder of the contest, they were never really able to bridge the gap.

The Steelers went to half time up 18-0 and managed just one try after the break, the Sharks points coming late in the game courtesy of a Tayla Curtis touchdown.

The Tarsha Sharks now move onto a third round match against the Bulldogs who have registered one win from two matches so far this season.
