Sharks to face Eels in PointsBet homecoming

We’re back in 2022! Lock it in members and fans, the Sharks are coming home.

Two years away, with the disruptions and complications of Covid thrown in somewhere in the middle of all that, and now we can look forward to coming back, with 10 games scheduled for PointsBet Stadium next season.

And we won’t have to wait long to welcome new coach Craig Fitzgibbon and the team, with the first match at PointsBet set down for round two and against a formidable opponent.

It will be a Saturday night blockbuster, with the Sharks to host the Parramatta Eels in what represents an early challenge for Fitzgibbon’s Cronulla side. Kick-off is set down for 5.30pm.

Against an Eels team which fell just short of a top four finish, only to then be narrowly beaten and eliminated by the eventual premiers the Panthers in week two of the 2021 NRL Finals series, the Sharks clash with Parramatta is the first of a number of match-ups with highly regarded opponents on home soil.

Always eagerly anticipated is the local derby against the St George Illawarra Dragons, however while a WIN Stadium clash in Wollongong will be contested in round three, the Sharks will need to wait until early August to play host to their traditional rivals, with the return bout at PointsBet in round 21.

The Sharks also tackle 2021 finalists the Sea Eagles, Roosters, Storm, Knights and Rabbitohs in PointsBet Stadium home games, along with the Sydney-based Tigers, Bulldogs and Dragons, as well as the Shaun Johnson led New Zealand Warriors.

In breaking down the Sharks home draw, two games will be played on a Thursday night, one at the early Friday timeslot of 6.00pm, three at the family friendly kick-off time of 5.30pm on a Saturday, two at 7.30pm on Saturday, while the Sharks also have two Sunday afternoon 4.00pm matches at PointsBet in 2022.

Two Sharks home games will be on the road, one during the Magic Round weekend when they play the Raiders at Suncorp in round 10, the second against the Titans in Coffs Harbour in June.

It all adds up to an exciting home game schedule, with now the ideal time to renew memberships for 2022 or to consider getting on board and being a part of the action for when the new season rolls around.
