Family Co. Golf Day a resounding success

Local Family and Domestic Violence Support Charity, The Family Co. conducted a successful fundraising golf day at Sharks at Kareela recently.

With assistance from Sharks at Kareela, including discounted rates on golf green fees and catering, as well as free room hire for the post golf festivities, the event raised $25,000, funds which have been earmarked for additional support programs and increasing the hours of our caseworker to help the charity respond to increased demand for family assistance and domestic violence support.

Former Sharks stars and Club ambassadors Luke Lewis and Brett Kimmorley took part on the day, with the Sharks also donating a signed jersey and home game corporate box as prizes.

The Family Co. CEO Ashleigh Daines was extremely pleased with the outcome of the day, which was the first post-Covid fundraising event for the organisation, and the first under their new name, as launched in April.

“The way in which so many local businesses supported us, through their willingness to sponsor us, participate, or just donate, was very humbling,” Ms Daines said. “There were many groups for whom this occasion was their first encounter with our service, but their awareness of the issue of domestic violence, empathy for the work we do, and willingness to support was overwhelming.”

The Charity Golf Day event came together through the assistance and generosity of Sharks at Kareela, Major Sponsor, Aliro Group’s TripleTwoNine project, Minor Sponsors Martinus and BRC Lifts, hole sponsors and the many local businesses who entered teams and participated on the day.

Major event sponsor the Aliro Group, who are leading the redevelopment of the former Toyota site at Caringbah through their TripleTwoNine project, came on board when they saw the wonderful work that The Family Co. does.

“Aliro Group recognises the importance of The Family Co’s work with children and young families and our alignment with their vision of supporting the local community by enhancing their ability to be safe, have strong connections and thrive in life,” said Aliro Fund Manager and Chief Delivery Officer, Andrzej Masztak.

“Aliro is proud to be the gold sponsor of The Family Co’s inaugural golf day and looks forward to further supporting the local community by creating better places for people to connect and thrive at our TripleTwoNine development in Caringbah,” he added.

Team A from the REC Gym at Kirrawee took out the inaugural Ambrose style event, winning a Sharks Corporate Box for 4 people. The Family Co. are already making plans to host this event annually, will soon announce the details for the 2022 event.
