While the make-up of the two teams is still up in the air due to the uncertainty around the NRL’s Covid restrictions, the Newtown Jets and Newcastle Knights will meet this weekend in a match deferred from round two.
The previously cancelled match is now scheduled for a 1.30pm kick-off at Maitland Sportsground on Saturday, with the Jets needing a turn-around in form after suffering a 46-18 defeat to the Penrith Panthers last weekend.
The Newtown team led at half time in the game against the Panthers, only to be overrun in the second period of the match.
The Jets have named a number of players from inside the Sharks Covid ‘bubble’, with the teams waiting on further instruction from the NRL as to whether they will be permitted to take to the field on Saturday.
The two teams have met already in 2021, with the Newcastle side winning 42-22 in a match played at Henson Park.
Newtown sits in eighth place after eight rounds played, Newcastle seventh.
