In an encouraging turnaround in form, the Newtown Jets have returned to the winner's circle with a resounding 30-14 victory over Mounties.

In a match played at Henson Park and with former Storm centre Will Chambers making his debut for the Newtown club, the Jets played strongly in the first half to lead 18-8, before going on with the job after the break to register their second win of the 2021 season.

While the addition of Chambers was a bonus for the Jets, the NSW and Australian representative was sin-binned in the second half of the match and will now have an anxious wait before finding out if he has a case to answer.

The Sharks play the Storm next week and Chambers would be hoping to be in contention to be included in the 17-man squad to go up against his former club.

Three first half tries, to the Jets, to utility Tyla Tamou, Luke Metcalf and Nene MacDonald, helped them to their half time advantage, then it was two four-pointers to Bronson Garlick which confirmed the result, the first of those coming after the talented back rower won the race to his own chip kick before sliding over out wide.

The Jets have a bye next week before facing the competition leading Panthers in round nine.
