The Sharks are at ‘home’ on the Sunshine Coast this weekend when they host the North Queensland Cowboys in a round four match-up on Saturday.
A Sharks home game but to be played at the Sunshine Coast Stadium, the match will kick off at 4.30pm local time (5.30pm Sydney time) with both teams desperate for a win with the Cowboys yet to record a victory in 2021 and the Cronulla side sitting on two points following the opening three rounds of the season.
After suffering a horrendous injury toll last weekend in a loss to the Eels, one in which the Sharks won plenty of admirers for their determination under adversity, this week’s team includes a couple of forced changes and two players who will be undergoing the concussion protocols to prove their fitness ahead of Saturday’s game.
Sione Katoa comes out due to a knee injury, his place to be taken by Mawene Hiroti, while Briton Nikora is set to sit out the next two games due to a suspension handed down for a shoulder charge.
Teig Wilton, who defensively was outstanding for the Sharks in the Eels match, slots into Nikora’s position in the back row.
While confident they will shake off the cobwebs of the head knocks suffered last Saturday night, Wade Graham and Will Kennedy still need to pass all protocols before being cleared to play.
With the injury and suspension omissions, Braydon Trindall, a Sunshine Coast junior, comes into the Sharks 17 as their bench utility.
The match also sees Valentine Holmes come up against his old club, with the premiership-winning former Shark to run out for the Cowboys.
While the situation is subject to change as a result of the Queensland COVID infections, as of today the game is going ahead on the Sunshine Coast, with any alterations or further information to be communicated if and when available.
