Despite the best efforts of all concerned, the Newtown v Newcastle round two match failed to take place, with the Jets now rested and ready for their third round clash this weekend.
Originally scheduled for the Central Coast on Friday as the curtain-raiser to the Knights v Warriors NRL match, the game was then transferred to Cessnock on Sunday, before a third venue change saw the match set down for PointsBet Stadium, also on Sunday.
When the rains continued to fall, even option three was unavailable, with the Jets now focusing their attention on the Eels on Saturday.
While the Jets have played one Knock-On Effect NSW Cup game in 2021, winning their season-opener 16-12 against the St George Illawarra Dragons, the Eels are yet to take to the field after a round one bye, then a week two washout.
