Sponsors on board for Junior Academy and Women’s Sharks

In something almost unique amongst the NRL clubs which support their junior representative and women’s development programs, the Sharks have assembled an impressive list of organisations as sponsors for the 2021 season.

A group of corporate partners separate and distinct from those companies and brands which sponsor the NRL side, the support provided ensues the Sharks can continue to be one of the leading development clubs in the NRL.

In a massive endorsement for women’s rugby league, the Sharks Harvey Norman Women’s (HNWP) and under 19 Tarsha Gale Cup teams will run out in 2021 with a playing strip featuring close to a full complement of sponsors, while the same can be said for the boys Matthews Cup, SG Ball, Jersey Flegg and under-16 Academy squads, which will also play in their respective competitions with a jersey highlighting a strong list of corporate backers.

Representatives from the Women’s and Academy sponsors attended a breakfast at the Sharks at Kareela club earlier today where they were thanked for committing their support and given details surrounding the various NSWRL competitions and how they are planned to operate in 2021.

Sharks Head of Partnerships and Hospitality Rebecca Hughes was thrilled the club had been able to secure a quality group of corporate partners who have jumped on board the Sharks women’s teams and the various junior rep squads ahead of the 2021 season.

“In challenging economic times, it’s pleasing to know we have strong support for our Sharks Academy teams through both National and Local businesses,” Ms Hughes said. “We welcome all of our existing and new partners into the Sharks Corporate Network for the 2021 Season.”

Glenn Brailey, Sharks Development and Pathways Manager explained the financial support offered would go a long way towards helping the club continue to give young players at the club every opportunity to reach their goals.

“We are proud of our Academy system and what we are doing to develop our young talent, with the aim to transition as many as possible through the grades and ultimately into the NRL squad,” Brailey said.

“That being the case, we can’t do what we do without resourcing, so it is essential we get some corporate support and we are very grateful to those businesses who share our vision and who are backing our development program.”

In relation to the HNWP and Tarsha Gale teams, financial services company EISS Super return as the major front of jersey partner, the Gecko Projects logo will again be prominent as sternum sponsor, while joining them will be three more committed supporters of both the Sharks and the women’s game.

MInespec Parts, in 2020 and extending into 2021-22 as the major sponsor of the Sharks Mermaids, will feature on the top back of what is a striking new jersey design, while Fibrous Designs has agreed to become sleeve sponsor.

Add to that mix local business Jumbuck Meats and Ray White Sutherland Shire have signed on to become women’s team shorts sponsors and it is obvious the interest and support shown by this committed band of businesses is an outstanding endorsement for the women’s game at the Sharks.

The HNWP Sharks have enjoyed success over the past two seasons, winning their way through to the grand final qualifying matches both years, while in 2020 they supplied 10 players to the NRLW competition, the most of any NSWRL club.

Further to that, and in what is a pathway to the senior ranks, the Sharks have delivered considerable success in the Tarsha Gale Cup, a competition for under 18’s (changed to under 19’s for 2021) in recent years, included amongst those achievements a premiership in 2018.

The 2021 season also marks a somewhat significant milestone, with the two Sharks teams to play in a jersey design unique to the women, featuring variations to the strip worn by the NRL and Cronulla junior representative sides.

As for the Sharks Junior rep and Academy teams, they too can boast a jersey full of corporate supporters ahead of their season kicking off next February.

John Ryan Freight Management (JRFM) returns as the front of jersey partner of the boys teams from under-21 Jersey Flegg, through the under-19 SG Ball and under-17 Matthews Cup. Also this year the Sharks will run an under-16 Pathways squad, made up of a talented group of players selected from local junior league clubs.

In addition to JRFM, Triple H backs up as the Junior Rep sleeve sponsor, with newcomers Elite Legal on the top back and DEMOCO, bottom back of the boys team jerseys.

That Art Place and Top Clad Building Solutions will appear on the blue, orange and yellow trainer’s shirts for each of the boys teams.

All teams have returned to training, with the respective seasons to get underway in February and March 2021.
