Shaun Johnson returns after the birth of his baby daughter and having overcome a niggling groin issue, with youngster Connor Tracey to partner the Sharks key playmaker in the halves for their crucial round 16 clash against the North Queensland Cowboys.

One notable omission is that of Matt Moylan, who has been included on an extended bench, while Andrew Fifita has been listed in jersey 21 for what could potentially be his first game back following six weeks on the sideline. Fifita hasn’t played since injuring a hamstring in the Sharks round nine match against the Panthers.

Sitting in eighth place, two behind the seventh-placed Rabbitohs and four points ahead of the chasing pack, a win on Saturday would go a long way towards confirming the Sharks position inside the top eight.

However coming off a disappointing defeat at the hands of the Panthers, against a Cowboys side which showed plenty of resolve in only conceding two tries in a 12-0 loss to the Newcastle Knights, and the Sharks will be aimed for an improved performance should they hope to get the win over the North Queensland outfit.

The Sharks gave up seven tries to the rampaging Penrith team in a 38-12 loss last Friday night, with defense likely to be the focus of their preparations this week.

The round 16 matchup is scheduled for a 5.30pm kickoff at Kogarah’s Jubilee Oval, with the two teams listed below.
