Round 8: Man of the Match

He leads the NRL in try assists with 12, is towards the top of the Dally M Leader board and has been a big reason behind the Sharks recent resurgence, with Shaun Johnson the Fan Poll Man of the Match from his team’s victory over the Gold Coast Titans last weekend.

Johnson laid on two tries, one with a well-timed pass, the other after poking his nose through the line and finding Blayke Brailey in support, he kicked intelligently and landed six goals from seven attempts in the 40-10 win, with the Sharks five eighth’s performance earning 37 per cent of the fan vote to be round eight Man of the Match.

Also gaining support from Sharks members and fans was Josh Dugan, who performed dual roles, first as a centre then in deputising for the injured Matt Moylan at fullback, Braden Hamlin-Uele, again the scorer of the first try of the game, and Brailey following what was another improved effort from the young dummy half.

Dugan scored 17 per cent of the fan vote, Hamlin-Uele 15 per cent and Brailey 11.

Andrew Fifita and Chad Townsend were amongst the others to catch the eye and earn votes from the Sharks faithful.

With his three points as Fan Poll Man of the Match, Johnson extended his lead in the season-long race. He sits on 12 points, two clear of Dugan who is on 8.
