The Newtown Jets, the Sharks partner club in the NSWRL Canterbury Cup, play the St George Illawarra Dragons on Sunday in a Grand Final qualifying clash.
The Jets, bolstered by a handful of Sharks contracted players, have found form late in the year, a win over the Bears last weekend setting up a match with their local rivals for a place in the competition decider.
Young Sharks Billy Magoulias, Blayke Brailey, Will Kennedy and Toby Rudolf were outstanding for the Jets in their narrow win against North Sydney and when adding experienced campaigners Jayson Bukuya, Scott Sorensen and Aaron Gray, no doubt the Newtown side will present formidable opposition for the Dragons on Sunday.
After struggling through the early part of the season the Jets went on a late winning run, qualifying seventh, before taking out Mounties then the Bears in consecutive weeks to setup this weekend's match up with the Dragons.
They certainly won't have things their own way however, with the Dragons the Canterbury Cup minor premiers before earning a week off with a victory over the Bulldogs in round one of the Finals series.
The winner of the Jets v Dragons match will come up against the winner of the other qualifying final between Wentworthville and Souths in the Canterbury Cup Grand Final.
And with the Newtown game scheduled for Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Sharks fans have the perfect opportunity to show their support for the Jets while at the same time getting a sneak peak and a feel for their 2020 home ground.
