He did his very best to spark a second half revival, with Shaun Johnson’s efforts recognised by the fans in being named as the Fan Poll Man of the Match from the game against the Panthers last Friday night.
Johnson was in the thick of the action as the Sharks mounted a comeback, his elusive running causing the Penrith defence all sorts of problems, but unfortunately the damage was done in the opening period as the home team hung on for a 26-20 victory.
The poll results saw Johnson collect 29 per cent of the vote to claim the three-points in the year long Fan Poll Player of the Year race.
Also strong for the Sharks on the night was Josh Dugan, assuming the fullback duties in the absence of Matt Moylan.
Continuing his recent good form, Dugan was safe under the high ball, not an easy task in the swirling winds, while returning the ball with vigour.
Dugan received 25 percent of the fan vote.
While 12 percent of Sharks fans gave their vote to Wade Graham, who after an outstanding performance the previous week was again in the thick of the action, scoring a first half try and trying to spark his team during their second half fightback.
FANS ROUND 21 MAN OF THE MATCH – Shaun Johnson – 28%
2nd Place – Josh Dugan – 25%
3rd Place – Wade Graham – 12%
