Sharks skipper Paul Gallen publicly backed the plan to take home games away while construction takes place at the Sharks Leagues Club, talking on the Channel 9 show 100% Footy on Monday night.
After sitting down with club Management and Board, Gallen better understood the plan to take home games away from PointsBet Stadium for the next two seasons, seeing it as vital to the Sharks long term survival and sustainability.
As expressed by Group CEO Richard Munro, the Sharks will hold information sessions and seek the views of its members on where its home games should be played over the next two years.
Munro explained that the club is about to embark on a major redevelopment of its Leagues Club, forcing them to move games in 2020 and 2021.
As a part of the proposal, members will be invited to choose from a range of home ground options for the next two years including:
• Staging games at Kogarah or Wollongong – the closest venues to PointsBet Stadium
• Taking several games to regional areas each year to attract new supporters
• Staging marquee matches, including local derbies, at BankWest Stadium which would give fans greater comfort and an opportunity to see the Sharks play at Sydney’s best Rugby League ground
