Clinical Sharks continue their roll

The Jersey Flegg Sharks continued their dominance of the under-20’s competition with a comfortable 32-14 win over the North Sydney Bears in their round 15 match at Storey Park on Sunday.

The Sharks, now five points clear the top of the Jersey Flegg ladder, took a commanding 20-6 lead to the half time break and went on the with job in the second period in registering their 11th win from 12 starts this season.

The visiting Cronulla side were woken from their slumber with any complacency was quickly taken away when the Bears crossed in the first minute of the contest to take a 6-0 lead.

From that point, the Sharks showed why they are clear competition leaders by piling on four first half tries, two of those to impressive young fullback Jonaiah Lualua and at 20-6 had the game in control.

A fifth try in the early stages of the second half to hard-working back rower Tom Caughlan, converted by Jonah Ngaronoa, made it 26-6 and despite the North Sydney side fighting back with a pair of four pointers to pull within 12, the final result was never really in doubt, winger Josh Delailoa getting his second of the afternoon inside the last five minutes of the contest to seal the win.

The victory saw the Sharks move to 22 competition points, five in front of the second-placed Roosters.

The Flegg Sharks are back in action on Saturday when they take on the Bulldogs, who currently sit seventh on the ladder, in a match to be played at Belmore Sports Ground. Kick-off is scheduled for 3.00pm.
