HNWP Team List - Sharks v CRL Newcastle

The Sharks Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership team continued their winning run with a hard-fought 16-8 victory over the Wests Tigers in a match played at Lidcombe Oval on Sunday.

Despite scoring four tries to two and seemingly always in control, the Sharks were unable to kick a goal, meaning they didn’t put their rivals away until the dying moments of the contest in racking up their third win from four starts so far in 2019.

The Sharks were on the board early through Jamie-Anne Wright and when Corban Mcgregor scored shortly before half time the Cronulla side took an 8-0 lead to the break.

The Tigers made it 8-4 soon after the resumption, before a try to Cheyanne Hatch gave the Sharks some breathing space at 12-4, however another four-pointer to their opponents made it a contest going into the final 10 minutes of the match.

As the final result will show the Sharks prevailed, Quincy Dodd sealing the deal with a 58th minute try.

The victory kept the Sharks travelling nicely towards the top of the HNWP competition table in third position, just one win shy of the joint competition leaders the Bears and Mounties.

This week the Sharks face a challenging road trip when they head north to St Johns Oval in Charlestown to take on the Newcastle CRL side.

Newcastle sit in fifth position, two points behind the Sharks and come into the game on the back of an impressive win over Wentworthville at their last start.
