A willing Sharks SG Ball side have eventually succumbed to the Canterbury Bulldogs, bowing out of the finals race in gong down by 28-6.
The scoreline might have indicated an easy victory for the Bulldogs, but it was far from that, with the Sharks battling hard throughout the first half in going to the break at 6-points all.
The Bulldogs took the lead early in the second period to go ahead 10-6 and with 10-minutes remaining the Sharks were still well and truly in the hunt.
From that point however, the Sharks couldn’t hold on against a physical opposition, the Bulldogs scoring three late tries to confirm the win and cement their place in week two of the SG Ball finals.
It was a disappointing end for a Sharks team which continued to develop a group of talented youngsters while managing a number of impressive victories throughout the season.
Back-rower Kitione Kautoga scored the try, hooker Tom Demeio kicking the goal, for the Sharks six points.
The Ball Sharks finished the regular season in eighth position after four wins and four losses.
With the Ball competition coming to an end for the Sharks, a handful of players will now push up and train with the Jersey Flegg team.
