The first game in Cronulla colours for Shaun Johnson, a chance to see the 2019 ‘spine’ in action with Matt Moylan, Chad Townsend and Jayden Brailey teaming up with the Kiwi international, are just a couple of aspects of the trial match in Maitland for Sharks fans to look forward to.
The Sharks take on the Knights in their final hit out before the start of the new season, with both clubs fielding close to full-strength line ups for the game tomorrow night.
And for those unable to make the trip to Maitland, Sharks fans can catch all the action via a live stream on Sharks.com.au, with kick-off to the main game at 5.30pm.
In addition to Moylan, Johnson and Brailey, the likes of Josh Dugan, Andrew Fifita, Aaron Woods, Matt Prior, Kurt Capewell, Sosaia Feki and skipper Paul Gallen, will also be going around for the first time as new coach John Morris finalises preparations ahead of their round match in Newcastle.
Youngsters Briton Nikora, Bronson Xerri, Kyle Flanagan, Billy Magoulias and Will Kennedy will also get another opportunity to impress after playing strongly in last weekend’s trial against Manly, against a quality Knights outfit featuring a couple of former Sharks.
Lining up opposite their old teammates will be Jesse Ramien and Edrick Lee, with the pair having made the switch to the Newcastle club during the recent off-season. When added to the likes of Kayln Ponga, Mitchell Pearce and David Klemmer and it shapes as a competitive trial clash just two weeks out from the 2019 season getting underway.
The Sharks v Knights NRL trial, set to be shown via Live Stream, kicks off at 5.30pm, an Intrust Super Premiership match between the Knights and Newtown Jets is scheduled for 3.15pm, with a Jersey Flegg trial beginning at 1.30pm.
