The Sharks will be keeping a keen eye on the Intrust Super Championship game on Sunday matching the Redcliffe Dolphins and Canterbury Bulldogs, with one of their new recruits for 2019 set to take centre stage.
Powerfully built back-rower Toby Rudolf starred for the Dolphins in their Intrust Super Cup Grand Final victory over the Easts Tigers, winning the Duncan Hall Medal for the player of the match.
In an impressive display, Rudolf made some surging runs to help get his side on the front foot, accumulating 149 metres from 13 carries, while he was busy on the defensive end as well, making 33 tackles in an energetic performance.
Rudolf's efforts helped his Dolphins side to a 36-22 triumph over the Tigers.
Originally from the South-Eastern club in the South Sydney district, having represented the Rabbitohs at Under-20's level then the North Sydney Bears in the Intrust Super Premiership in 2017, the 22-year-old Rudolf will join the Sharks during the pre-season with the goal of pushing for an NRL berth.
"It is disappointing to leave the guys after such a stellar season we've had but I'm on to bigger and better things [at Cronulla] and hopefully I can replicate what I have done here and get into the starting side," Rudolf told NRL.com.
"I came here with a purpose, to pick my footy up, because it wasn't where I wanted it to be last year and it couldn't have gone any better this year and that is due to the entire team behind me," he said.
Weighing in at around the 105kg mark and standing 190cm, Rudolf made quite an impression at Redcliffe, playing 23 games during their premiership winning season.
For Sharks fans wanting a sneak peak of their new recruit, Rudolf will play in jersey 11 for Redcliffe in the Intrust Super Championship game on Sunday.
Kick-off is at 3.40pm, with the game to be televised live on Channel 9.
