The Cronulla Sharks Leagues Club this week presented donations totalling $54,000 to two extremely worthy and important community programs courtesy of the Club Grants program.
Sharks Leagues Club CEO Tim McAleer was joined by Sharks Have Heart General Manager George Nour at Kareela Golf Club, along with representatives from the Make Bullying History Foundation and Sutherland Shire Family Services who were present in accepting funding for 2018.
The generous grants will see Sharks Have Heart continue their support of the Make Bullying History Foundation into a third year, while this year Sutherland Shire Family Services through 'Love Bites', a program promoting respectful relationships to students in year 10 across the Sutherland Shire, was the other beneficiary.
Di Manns, CEO of Sutherland Shire Family Services and Brett Murray, Founder and CEO of the Make Bullying History Foundation, were present to gratefully accept the funding cheques.
Love Bites is a best practice and researched program on domestic violence and sexual assault which has been delivered to year 10 students of the Sutherland Shire since 2010.

As for Make Bullying History, the foundation provides tried, proven anti-bullying presentations, seminars and workshops for students and parents and professional Development workshops for teachers.

The funding is made available through the Sutherland Shire's club grants committee, with $298,994 donated in 2018 across the 10 participating clubs in the local region.
Grant applications were received and submitted through a program which features on the Sutherland Shire Council's website, with the Sharks then selecting the two community initiatives for their 2018 funding.
The Cronulla Sharks Leagues Club are part of the Club Grants program, which sees clubs who take in over $1M in poker machine revenue being required to donate a set percentage back to the community.
Our Community team manage the grants scheme on behalf of the Leagues Club, facilitating the requests, with the donations made to our signature charity partners.
Sutherland Shire Mayor Carmelo Pesce was in attendance, congratulating the recipients and thanking the clubs for their contribution to the variety of worthy community programs and causes.
