Two wins over the past two weeks, achieved in totally different circumstances, have the Newtown Jets travelling to Auckland this weekend full of confidence.
In round six the Jets thumped the Newcastle Knights, piling on 58 points, before they were forced to come back from a 20-point deficit last week to defeat the Bulldogs, and while the pair of victories were contrasting, they were equally impressive as they pushed the Newtown side into third position on the Intrust Super Premiership ladder.
Adding further merit to their win over the Bulldogs, the Jets went into the game without regulars Scott Sorensen and Braden Uele, with the pair called up into the Sharks NRL squad for their clash with the Panthers.
Sorensen played a leading role in the Sharks win, while Uele was 18th man.
This week's opponents the Warriors are level with the Jets on eight competition points, but due to their inferior for-and-against sit in seventh position.
Again, the Jets will be looking for the likes of Aaron Gray and Sione Katoa to lead the way out wide, Kyle Flanagan and Blayke Brailey to control proceedings in the middle, and for lock Jack Williams to continue his outstanding form in the forwards.
The Jets v Warriors is scheduled for a 1.00pm (local time) start at North Harbour Stadium on Saturday.
