Adding to the disappointment of their loss to the Eels in their qualifying finals match, NYC Sharks backrower Briton Nikora has been charged for a lifting tackle by the match review committee.

Nikora, a member of the Junior Kiwis team in 2017 and just last week named in the Holden Cup Team of the Year, was charged with a grade two dangerous throw for a tackle made in the 68th minute of yesterday’s match.

The charge attracts a 225-point penalty, 300 should he challenge and fail to have it dismissed, meaning were he to take the early guilty plea Nikora would miss two games, three if he was unsuccessful in a challenge.

The Sharks have until midday tomorrow to make a decision as to what course of action they will take.

The NYC Sharks following their loss to the Eels move onto an elimination match next weekend when they play Manly at ANZ Stadium on Saturday. That match is scheduled to get underway at 5.00pm.
