In continuing the Sharks Heritage Series, celebrating the club’s 50th Anniversary, we look back at a classic Sharks v Warriors match from the Super League year of 1997.

To reminisce, remember or to just look back at the way the game was played back in a different era, the Sharks website provides another match featuring greats of the game, to be enjoyed by Cronulla fans young or old.

This week, to coincide with the round 21 match against the New Zealand Warriors, is a Monday night game played at Shark Park back in 1997.

A young Peter Sterling and Paul 'Fatty' Vautin were together in the Channel 9 commentary team, Mat Rogers, David Peachey, Tewara Nikau and Dean Treister members of the Sharks squad, while current Cowboys coach Paul Green was the Cronulla half.

It was a quality Sharks team up against the Auckland Warriors and in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd.

As for what transpired, for those not yet born or others with memories failing them, sit back, enjoy and see how the game turned out.

Tomorrow we will show a second Warriors match, then in the coming weeks unveil more old games, matches against the Raiders, Broncos, Cowboys, Roosters and Knights, all in the lead up to and coinciding with scheduled 2017 Sharks NRL fixtures.

Enjoy the action, Sharks v Warriors, Shark Park, from 1997, now playing on Sharks TV, Channel 67.
