After edging the Panthers by a point last weekend, Wentworthville shape as a difficult opponent on Sunday for a Newtown Jets team struggling to find consistent form in 2017.

Set down for Ringrose Park, the match is a crucial one for both teams as they battle for places in the Intrust Super Premiership top eight.

A field goal was the difference in a Magpies win over Penrith, while similarly the Jets were involved in a close contest, going down to Wyong 19-16 in a game played at Henson Park.

Despite the loss however it was an improved showing by the Jets against a Roos outfit sitting on top of the ISP competition table.

The Jets had a chance to snatch a late victory, with errors seeing the result literally slip through their hands.

In team news, Daniel Mortimer has been named by Newtown to start in the halves, the former premiership winner with the Roosters making a return from injury in the Wyong loss last week.

Youngster Jesse Ramien has been promoted to the Jets side after playing for the in the Holden Cup win over the Titans last Saturday, while Jack Williams and Jayden Walker have also been in good form, with the pair to team up in the backrow for the game against Wenty on Sunday.

The Wentworthville V Newtown ISP NSW match at Ringrose Park on Sunday, scheduled to kick off at 3.00pm, is being broadcast on Alive 905 FM and live-streamed on www.alive905.com.au
