A hamstring injury will see Gerard Beale ruled out of the Sharks match against the Raiders, with Jack Bird to play fullback tomorrow night.

Beale experienced some tightness in his hamstring following training on Wednesday, with medical staff deciding not to risk the Kiwi international for fear of doing further damage.

At his midday press conference coach Shane Flanagan explained the Beale situation then anointed Bird as the man to replace him, with the Sharks young gun to play his first game in the fullback role.

In regards to other positional changes and a potential replacement in the centres, Flanagan kept his cards close to his chest, with Luke Lewis, Tony Williams and Kurt Capewell all capable of slotting into the backline role.

The rest of the Sharks team is fit and ready to go tomorrow night, with the team departing Cronulla today ahead of Saturday’s game.

The Sharks 19-man travelling party will be officially announced at 7.30pm tonight, 24-hours before the match.
