After sneaking home courtesy of two late Joseph Paulo penalty goals, the Newtown Jets will be looking to continue on their winning ways when they travel to Aubrey Keech Reserve to take on Mounties on Saturday.
The Jets, the Sharks partner club in the Intrust Super Premiership, escaped with a 16-14 win over Blacktown Workers last Sunday in wet and slippery conditions, with coach Greg Matterson likely to be pleased with the defensive commitment shown but hopeful of a more cohesive attacking display in their round two match.
Like the Jets, Mounties also got their season off to a winning start, beating the Bulldogs by 22-14 in their opening round match.
Again the Jets will have a strong contingent of Sharks-contracted players in their line-up, with Tony Williams, Jeremy Latimore, Daniel Mortimer and Manaia Cherrington amongst those named in the Newtown side.
The Jets v Mounties match is scheduled for a 3.00pm kick off at Aubrey Keech Reserve on Saturday.
