Leading from the front, Monty Porter steered the Sharks from the Club's outset in 1967.
Though his leadership qualities were not limitted to the playing field, with Porter's diligence in aiding the Sharks administrative setup proving instrumental in building the foundations of the Club, as we now come to know it.
Such is Porter's esteem in the Shire, the Southern grandstand at Southern Cross Group Stadium bears his iconic name, so too the Club's honouring medal for that of the Sharks 'Player of the Year'.
In this instalment of #50Stories, we pay tribute to a man who gave so much for this great Club, and a name synonymous with the Black, White and Blue.
