Not preparing for a match this week having earned the right to accelerate through to the third week of the NRL Finals, Sharks flyer Valentine Holmes says the side is embracing the feeling of the 'business end' of the season.

"This year we've done really well to make the top four, last year we missed it ... to get a week off is very lucky for us, we're all pretty excited about that," Holmes said.

"To be one more game away from the Grand Final, it's unreal."

With the side this week on a lessened training load and focussing squarely on readying their bodies for what promises to be a brusing Preliminary Final, Holmes said the side's win over the Raiders has the Shire community buzzing with excitement and anticipation.

"Yeah definitely ... everyone's just got smiles on their faces, they're all behind our backs," Holmes said.
