The NYC Sharks will be out to shore up their hopes of finishing in the competition's top four, as the side travels to the Sunshine Coast to take on the Melbourne Storm's Thunderbolts on Saturday afternoon.
Following the Roosters' U20s draw with the Broncos in Brisbane on Thursday, the Sharks now have the opportunity to book a first week finals double-chance, so should they avoid defeat on the Coast.
Sitting level with the Roosters on 33 competition points, anything but a loss would see John Morris' men leap-frog the tri-colours into fourth, and book a week one showdown with competition hot shots; the Penrith Panthers.
A win over the Thunderbolts will also aid the Club's chances in claiming a first Club championship since 1995.
Although other results - not least an NRL Sharks win versus the Storm - will go a long way in seeing the prized pennant find its way to Southern Cross Group Stadium at the end of the 26 rounds.
The Sharks will fancy their chances of downing the Storm 20s on Saturday, having done so in remarkable fashion when the teams met earlier this season.
Trailing by 28 points at half time when the sides met in Round 4, the Sharks managed to stage a big fight-back to claim a memorable 48 points to 40 win over the Storm.
Having shown on countless occasions this season their ability to score points at a rapid rate, the Sharks will again be hopeful of a strong display – in both attack and defence – when meeting the Storm.
The NYC Sharks clash with the Thunderbolts is set down for a 2:45pm kick off.
