

Some outstanding young talent was on show when junior league Grand Finals were run and won at Southern Cross Group Stadium and other local venues on Saturday.
Champions were crowned in all age groups and divisions from under 9’s to under 14’s, with big crowds and plenty of excitement the order of the day.
De La Salle kicked off proceedings at Southern Cross Group Stadium with a win over Gymea in the under 9A’s, with St Joseph’s scoring a thrilling last minute victory over Aquinas in the 14’s Division 1 match in the final game of the day.
The under12A’s match also went down to the wire, with Gymea scoring an extra time Golden Point win to deny Engadine the title. Gymea had come from fourth position after the regular season.
Grand Finals were also contested at Captain Cook Oval and at the Sharks Academy fields at Cronulla High School.
In the senior divisions finals began on Sunday, with preliminary finals to be played this coming weekend and Grand Finals on Sunday, September 4.
