Like the NRL match which would follow, the NYC Sharks were engaged in a nail-biting contest of their own at Cbus Stadium last night, with the Cronulla 20’s scoring a late match-winner to claim the points against the Titans.
A Sione Katoa try inside the final 10 minutes sealed a 34-28 win for the Sharks, cementing their position inside the top eight in giving every indication John Morris’s team will be around come finals time in a little over a month.
This week however the Sharks face another of the finals contenders in the Raiders, with the young Canberra side finding some form of late as they make a late push for a finals berth.
The Sharks go into this weekend’s match in sixth place, with the Raiders three points behind in eighth.
The Sharks v Raiders NYC match is scheduled for a 3.15pm kick off at Southern Cross Group Stadium on Saturday.
Gates open at 1.00pm, with a curtain raiser between the Australian Schoolboys, captained by Sharks SG Ball and NYC squad member Blayke Brailey, and England Academy getting underway at 1.15pm.
