It all began promisingly enough for the NYC Sharks as they built an 18-0 lead over the Roosters during the first half of their match last night.

The Sharks started full of running, however a Roosters outfit boasting a handful of players with NRL experience fought back to lead at half-time, then the rest was history.

As hard as the Sharks battled, with two late tries bringing the final margin back to just eight, in going down by 38-30 the young Cronulla side is now under pressure to get a result on Sunday against the Knights should they hope to consolidate their position inside the top eight.

In their favour this weekend the Sharks welcome back experienced five eighth Jack Williams, after his absence on Monday night due to suspension meant his team were forced to field a make-shift halves pairing in the Rooster match.

After being called up once again to play for Newtown in the Intrust Super Premiership, Lachlan Stein and Jaimin Jolliffe have both been named to return to the NYC line up this weekend.

Briton Nikora has also been retained in the squad following a solid debut performance on Monday night.

The Sharks v Knights NYC match is scheduled to get underway at 11.45am at Southern Cross Group Stadium on Sunday.
