The NYC Sharks have fallen 38 points to 28 at the hands of the Roosters at Allianz Stadium in the sides' Round 19 encounter.
Despite leading by 18 early, the Sharks were unable to hold out a resurgent Roosters outfit, who ran in 38 consecutive points to put the result beyond doubt before the turn of the 70th minute.
Though falling by 10 at full time, it was the Sharks who struck early courtesy of winger Josh Tuilagi, who crossed for the first points of the afternoon from the base of a scrum.
Tuilagi crossed in the sixth minute of play, to send the Sharks out to an early front.
Bessie Aufaga-Toomaga converted from the Eastern touchline, to take the side’s lead out from four to six.
Captain Jayden Brailey soon after extended that margin to twelve, before lock forward Eddie Faalua took the Sharks 18 points to the good.
But as possession – and the match’s momentum – began to swing, the Roosters found themselves right back in the thick of the action, and set out on quickly bringing back the deficit.
Three tries in quick succession had the Roosters right back in the contest, with NRL regular Jackson Hastings providing the initial spark for the tri-colours.
Following tries to Ryan King and Jesse Marschke saw the scores levelled at 18 with the half time siren within earshot, but it would be the Roosters to take the lead into the sheds with a penalty goal on the brink of the break.
Up by two at the change of ends, the Roosters ran in another three consecutive tries to take their lead out to 20.
Two late tries to the Sharks courtesy of Ash Nisbet and Sione Katoa restored some respectability to the score-line, though it would be the Roosters far too good for the visitors on the night.
