Despite State of Origin dominating the media discussion over the past week, the first placed Sharks also commanded their fair share of headlines.

The Sharks record-breaking 12th consecutive win received plenty of coverage, while their bid to make it 13 against the Panthers on Sunday, albeit with a team missing five players to State of Origin, was another topic worthy of debate.

State of Origin and the involvement of five Sharks players rated more than a mention, with Paul Gallen to play his last Origin match, Wade Graham his first.

And due to the withdrawal of Adam Reynolds, Jack Bird slots into the all-important five eighth role in the third and final game of the 2016 series.
