A scrimmage session against the NRL squad on Friday night has the NYC Sharks primed and ready to tackle the Bulldogs in their round 13 clash at ANZ Stadium on Monday night.

The young Sharks opposed their senior club mates for over an hour at Southern Cross Group Stadium in a session which gave the under-20’s a boost ahead of a game where a win will see them take another step towards a finals berth.

The NYC Sharks currently sit in sixth position following seven wins from their 11 matches played, eight places ahead of their opponents this weekend however they are unlikely to have it all their own way against a Bulldogs team that has found some reasonable form of late.

While the Sharks had their feet up last weekend due to the bye, the Bulldogs were battling the Raiders in a match they let get away from them with the Canberra side scoring two late tries in a 36-34 victory.

The Bulldogs halves pairing of Adam Keighran and Lachlan Lewis are both players of promise who will need to be watched closely should the Sharks hope to get a result on Monday night.

John Morris and his team however, while conscious of the opposition and what they are capable of, are more likely to be worrying about getting their own game in order after a lacklustre win over Manly in their most recent encounter.

After two consecutive losses the Sharks returned to the winner’s circle with a win over the Sea Eagles but it was a performance Morris will be looking for his team to improve on when they face the Bulldogs this weekend.

The likes of Jayden Mcdonogh, Jaimin Jolliffe, and Tepa Fuiavailili will have their hands full in what shapes as a physical forwards match up, with their battle in the middle of the field going a long way towards deciding the outcome.

Hooker and Captain Jayden Brailey, who features prominently in a number of the NYC statistical categories, will again be intent on leading from the front in a bid to get his team over the line.

The Sharks v Bulldogs NYC match is scheduled for a 4.45pm kick off at ANZ Stadium on Monday.
