Sharks skipper Paul Gallen was accepted into an elite group just a week or so ago when voted in as a life member of the club for his outstanding service over what is now a 15-year NRL career.

He joined the likes of Andrew Ettingshausen, Greg Pierce and Steve Rogers, as well as a list of long-standing officials and other fellow players who had previously been anointed as life members.

Gallen was awarded life membership at the Sharks Annual General Meeting on the night of March 31st, as was former CEO Peter Gow, but the Sharks current captain was absent due to a prior commitment.

What better place then to present Gallen with his life member badge than immediately after he had delivered a typically physical performance in the Sharks win over the Gold Coast Titans.

Gallen took it upon himself to take on his mate and ex-Sharks teammate Greg Bird in an intense battle, one which the Cronulla side managed to emerge from victorious.

Straight after the game Sharks Group CEO Lyall Gorman presented him with his life membership after which Gallen made an acceptance speech and spoke with Sharks TV.

Over 11,000 fans, most of whom stayed around to pay their respects to the club captain, saw Gallen speak on the night, but in case you missed it, see the full interview now playing on Sharks TV.
