Round - Round 02

Teams – Cronulla Sharks v St George Illawarra Dragons

Date – 13th or March 2016

Venue – Sharp Park, Cronulla Sydney NSW

Photographer – Grant Trouville

Description –

One of just four teams to win their two opening games of the 2016 season the NYC Sharks will look to build on their impressive start when they travel to Brookvale Oval to take on the Manly Sea Eagles on Monday.

The Sharks had a few anxious moments, coming back from a second half deficit to beat the Dragons at their last start, the win showing their resolve and commitment as edged out a two-point win.

On the flip side the Sharks opponents this week head into the round three match up as one of only three teams to remain winless after their two matches so far.

In round one Manly were on the end of a thumping against the Bulldogs before registering a narrow 34-30 loss to the Wests Tigers in round two.

The Sharks on the other hand were impressive in beating one of the competition favourites in the Cowboys in their opening match, before surviving a 26-24 thriller at home to St George Illawarra.

However despite the differing fortunes of the two teams to date in 2016 the Sharks will certainly be wary of a Manly team which progressed through to the 2015 Grand Final last season and retains a handful of that successful squad.

The Sharks though will head to Brookvale well prepared by new coach John Morris and confident of continuing their solid form.

If they are to be successful Morris will be looking for similar contributions from the likes of prop Jaimin Jolliffe and skipper Jayden Brailey, amongst the Sharks best in their previous two victories.

Outside back Sione Katoa and Lachlan Stein have also struck up a strong combination on the left hand side of the Sharks attack and could again prove a handful for the opposition defense on Monday afternoon.

The Sharks have named an 18-man squad for the round three match, with Morris needing to make a final decision as to the make-up of his side prior to the 4.45pm kickoff tomorrow.
