The Cronulla Sharks are proud to announce that innovation accelerator Lakeba Group has joined our Club as the Official Innovation Alliance Partner.
The partnership between the Club and the Lakeba Group will place our Club at the forefront of digital innovation in the professional sporting landscape.
The partnership is aimed at aligning the growing market for sport fans who use a second device during sporting matches and the desire for an enhanced game day experience.
Group CEO Lyall Gorman said he is excited about what the future holds for the Club and Lakeba following this announcement.
“I feel this partnership truly embodies what we’re trying to achieve at our Club from an innovation, fan engagement and game day experience perspective,” said Gorman.
“Each day we’re challenging ourselves and really asking the question, ‘why not us?’ and I think this is a perfect example of how we’re really becoming an innovator in world sport.”
Cronulla Sharks GM – Strategy and Business Development, Jonathan Prosser echoed Gorman’s sentiments, saying that this partnership places the Club in rare territory.
“This is really exciting for our Club and an initiative we are very proud to have committed to,” said Prosser.
“To be one of the first sporting Club’s in Australia to officially partner with an innovation leader puts us in incredibly exciting territory.
“We hope this can firstly give our Members and fans a truly unique experience both at Southern Cross Group Stadium on game day and also through their own devices wherever they may be interacting with our content.
"This is a strong statement of our intent as we challenge ourselves to be the Club of choice for our Members, fans, and commercial partners.”
Through the partnership an ‘Innovation Series’ will be brought to the Southern Cross Group Stadium, enabling the game day experience to continue to develop from the strong position of being recognised as the #1 in the competition in 2015.
Commercial discussions are underway to find the right naming rights partner for this Innovation Series, as it will appeal to a brand that values a fresh approach, and wishes to delight fans and connect with them.
Based in Sydney, Lakeba Group currently employs over 70 people worldwide and possess a dynamic collection of experience, technology and development capabilities which allow them to help their clients to achieve their goals.
With a strong focus on harnessing innovative ideas and in turn commercialising these ideas, Lakeba is a perfect fit for the technological innovation our Club is seeking to expand on in the future.
