Scans conducted at the Miranda premises of Sharks major partner Southern Radiology have revealed posterior and meniscus damage to the knee of Sharks skipper Paul Gallen.

Gallen suffered the injury in the second half of the Sharks match against the Cowboys in Townsville.

While the recovery period is expected to be up to six weeks, the results of the scans were something of a positive after initial fears of a season ending ACL tear.

“We thought the worst yesterday but that’s not the case,” Gallen said. “I’ll see a specialist and move on, find out exactly what’s going on, but it will be a six week injury at the worst.”

Similarly Coach Shane Flanagan was relieved with the scan result.

“We said a couple of prayers on the plane home yesterday, he’s our captain and our leader. It’s great news he’s not going to be out for too long,” Flanagan said.

The Sharks will keep members and fans informed should more come to hand following Gallen’s appointment with a knee specialist
