With the Sharks NRL squad close to full strength the Jets will be the beneficiaries this coming weekend, with 11 Cronulla-contracted players named in the Newtown team for round one of the Intrust Super Premiership.

The Sharks partner club in the Intrust Super Premiership, formerly referred to as the NSW Cup, the Jets take on the Canterbury Bulldogs in round one in a match scheduled for a 3.00pm kick-off at Newtown’s traditional home of Henson Park.

Running out for the Jets this weekend will be a collection of players with a wealth of NRL experience, included amongst them Sharks newcomer Jesse Sene-Lafao, ex-Roosters and Raiders hooker Matt McIlwrick, wingers Mitch Brown and Jacob Gagan and talented youngster Fa’amanu Brown.

Both Jets and Sharks officials will also be interested to see the likes of Josh Cleeland and Kurt Capewell play their first games in the NSW Cup, with the pair members of the premiership winning Queensland Cup side Ipswich in 2015.

The Jets and Bulldogs match is set to get underway at 3.00pm, with Sharks Members reminded that as part of their 2016 Membership they receive FREE entry into all Jets matches at Henson Park.
