At a training camp in Terrigal last week the Sharks opened their doors to the media, with television and newspaper journalists capturing all the pre-season news just over a week ahead of their round one clash with the Cowboys.

The likes of Paul Gallen, Ben Barba, Valentine Holmes and Michael Ennis answered a variety of questions, with all positive about the Sharks chances not just in round one, but for the season ahead.

The Jack Bird, Barba, Holmes fullback debate was another much-talked about topic, with all to be revealed when the Sharks team is announced on Tuesday.

In Sharks in the News for round one we recap some of the stories which made headlines, including Gallen’s assessment that this Cronulla squad is the equal of any he has played with in his 15 seasons at the club, while Barba tells of his strict off-season training regime, one which has him in line to potentially start at fullback in his teams’ opening round match in Townsville.

On a lighter note, the Telegraph caught Gallen disembarking a helicopter en-route to the NRL Season Launch in an indication his stocks have risen at NRL headquarters over the past 12-months.

Sharks TV has also been on the case over the past week, with interviews featuring Gallen, Barba, Wade Graham and Coach Shane Flanagan appearing on the Sharks website.

CEO Lyall Gorman also featured, speaking proudly about an NRL Membership award recently presented to the Sharks for their outstanding efforts in 2015.

So in case you missed it, see what they are saying, what they’re writing, heading into the Sharks season-opener in Townsville this Saturday.
