Selected to skipper the Sharks at 2015's instalment of the Auckland Nines, Luke Lewis wouldn't go on to feature at Eden Park - missing the weekend's action due to a knee injury.

But now back and fully fit ahead of this year's Nines tournament, Lewis has once more been handed the Captain's role - albeit in a shared capacity with fellow veteran Chris Heighington - and he says he's excited to trot out onto the field at the weekend.

"I'm pretty stoked to be going over there with all the young guys, and to captain the side with Chris Heighington," Lewis said.

"I'm looking forward to having a bit of fun ... the pre-season is now over, and I can't wait."

Lewis also touted the hopes of young prospects Kurt Capewell and Jordan Drew, whilst also saying Joseph 'Sefa' Paulo is a huge chance to star at the Nines.
