The Mermaids squad for 2016 will soon be decided and announced ahead of what promises to be another boom year for the Sharks cheer girls.

Highly rated amongst the NRL's ranks as one of the league's best cheer squads, the Mermaids again look set to dazzle and entertain, if last Monday's auditions are any indication of what may lay ahead.

"There's so many more skills coming through the ranks, I think, this year ... It's very different to last year," Mermaids Choreographer & Co-ordinator Jacqueline-Lee Elliott said.

"I'm very excited for the new season because we have some great 'newbies' on board."

Sharks TV was on hand at last week's first round of auditions. See all the action in our feature package, now playing.
