Sharks Mermaid's Choreographer and Co-ordinator Jacqueline-Lee Elliott (nee Doran) has every reason to be excited about the upcoming season with the auditions for the 2016 squad set to take place tomorrow night.

Elliott guided a Mermaids group, rated by many to be the benchmark for NRL cheerleading squads, throughout an exciting 2015 season, with game day entertainment in 2016 ready to take off to an even higher level.

"We raised the bar this year," Elliott said. "We had some great material to put on the field for the fans and it was the best year yet.

"The standard and quality was high and we also introduced Jess Colless the Australian Baton Twirling champion who was just phenomenal.

"For next year we've got so many ideas and the first game will be huge. It's going to be exciting."

Ahead of Monday's auditions, local news outlet the St. George & Sutherland Shire Leader ran a feature article on the Mermaids, which can be read HERE
