Much was hoped for but nothing too much expected of Jack Bird when he ran out for his first game in the Sharks starting side back in round 5.

After a previous cameo as an outside back Bird was thrust into the five eighth role against the Roosters and two tries and a man of the match performance later, the Wollongong product had announced himself to the rugby league world.

Bird would then go on to represent Country Origin against City, while playing in every Sharks game to follow during 2015 in a stand out debut season.

He was rewarded for his efforts with the Dally M Rookie of the Year, then followed that up with the Sharks award, the Steve Rogers Rookie of the Year, named in honour of club the late Sharks immortal.

Sharks TV caught up with Bird after he had accepted his award at the annual presentation night held in the auditorium at Sharks Leagues Club.

See what he had to say, now playing on Sharks TV
