The Cronulla Sharks will this weekend celebrate NRL ‘Play Touch Football’ Round when hosting the Wests Tigers at Remondis Stadium.

Recognising the role that touch football can – and often does – play in the development of young League players, is just one of the many ways that the Sharks are reinforcing their allegiance with Touch Football Australia, and its partnership with the NRL.

The National Rugby League and Touch Football Australia’s partnership launched in August 2013, in what was an historic sporting partnership representing the biggest boost to participation and game development in the history of either sport.

At Saturday’s match-day at Remondis Stadium, as well as matches across all three grades, there will be the 1st and 2nd division Girls Winter League touch grand finals played.

These teams have been competing in a Sunday morning Touch Football competition across various venues around the Shire, and will this weekend get the chance to showcase their talents in front of the Cronulla crowd.

In other news, registration is now open for the local Shire Touch League summer season across both junior and senior competitions. Competitions for boys and girls will start September 3 at venues around the Shire; Engadine, Sutherland and Taren Point. The adult competitions will be starting in October.
