Sam Tagataese will miss Monday night’s match against the Melbourne Storm after taking the early guilty plea and accepting a grade one dangerous contact charge.

Tagataese was charged after making a clumsy rather than malicious attempt at a charge down on a Johnathan Thurston kick, where the Sharks prop took out the legs of the Cowboys playmaker.

With loading stemming from previous match review charges, Tagataese receives a 105-point penalty, meaning he will miss one game and have five carry over points which would be added to any subsequent charges.

The loss of Tagataese, coupled with the unavailability of the Fifita twins, leaves the Sharks somewhat skinny in terms of front row depth.

The Sharks will name their team to take on the Storm later this afternoon, with Luke Lewis hopeful of a return.
