Talented Sharks winger Valentine Holmes spoke to the media at training earlier this week ahead of today's clash with the Raiders.

Buoyed by the last start win at home against local rivals the Dragons, Holmes said the victory will give the side confidence heading the game in Canberra, for what is Paul Gallen's 250th NRL match.

"It's good to have him (Gallen) back, he's such a big part of the team," Holmes said.

"It'll be a tough game, we both need the win and I guess it will just come down to who wants it more and I believe we can come away from that with a win."

Although still eligible for Holden Cup selection, the media put the question to Holmes about his future as a State of Origin player and a possible switch to the centres.

Hear what he had to say, with the full interview now playing on Sharks TV.
