A draw didn’t necessarily kill off their chances of making a play for the top eight but it has made Sunday’s match with local rivals St George Illawarra almost a must-win game for the Sharks NYC side.

The Sharks led for most of the match against the Sea Eagles, only to give up a 75th minute try which levelled the scores and despite having a couple of late field goal chances were left pondering what might has been as they came away with just one competition point.

The young Sharks had won five of seven matches coming into last week’s drawn match, one of those victories coming at the expense of this weeks’ opponents the Dragons.

The two teams met back in round 12, with the Sharks scoring a hard-fought 30-24 win in a match played at Kogarah Jubilee Oval.

Sharks coach James Shepherd has rewarded Daniel Liddicoat for his solid performance playing in the unfamiliar position of centre by once again naming him the side, while in selecting a six-man interchange bench he has left his options open as to the make-up of his final 17 for Sunday’s game.

The Sharks v Dragons NYC match is scheduled for a 1.45pm kick-off at Remondis Stadium on Sunday, with games opening at 1.30pm.
