Sharks forward Sam Tagataese has been appointed as an ambassador for the NRL's 'State of Mind' campaign, which seeks to raise awareness on mental health issues.

Tagataease said that he jumped at the chance to be involved with such a campaign as he believes mental health awareness is something he feels passionately about and is an issue which needs to be addressed by the NRL and it's Clubs.

The Sharks player also spoke about how he himself came into contact with mental health issues and how the support of friends and family was crucial to overcoming the illness.
