The Cowboys have whipped the Sharks in the NYC, scoring a comprehensive 56-10 victory in their round 16 match at 1300SMILES Stadium.

In a dominating performance the young North Queensland side crossed for 11 tries in the triumph in a display that showed why they will be a force to be reckoned with at the business end of the season.

On the other hand the Sharks had a day they would like to quickly forget, errors and poor defense contributing to the one-side nature of the game.

The early exchanges didn’t necessarily reveal what was to go on for the rest of the contest when after the Cowboys had scored their first the Sharks immediately struck back, Jamayne Isaako crossing wide out after a clever exchange of passes.

The conversion attempt sailed wide but the Sharks appeared to up to the challenge at 4-points all 10 minutes into the match.

From there however things turned sour during the remainder of the first half, with a combination of Sharks errors and a classy Cowboys team seeing the score blow out to 30-4 at the break.

Again the Sharks began strongly to begin the second period, with Jaden Clarke running 15 metres through the middle of the ruck to touch down under the posts.

Isaako slotted the extra two points and the Sharks had inched closer at 30-10 down.

Another try courtesy of a Sharks error made it 36-10, before another North Queensland four-pointer, the second to their try-scoring wiz Gideon Mosby, extended their advantage to 42-10.

The try to Mosby was his 21st in just 13 NYC games this season.

From there things progressively went from bad to worse for the Sharks, with the floodgates opening as the Cowboys, added to the misery with three more tries in the final 15 minutes.

The result and performance of the young Sharks side would have been a disappointment after some encouraging efforts in recent week which have seen them climb to within striking distance of the top eight.

The NYC Sharks remain on 16 competition points and depending on results over the weekend may slip two points adrift of eighth place.

The Cowboys on the other hand continue their surge and move within a point of competition leader Penrith.
